Boudoir for Moms - Rocking the mom bod

I get it, I’m a mom. My body changed and no matter what I do to get back to my pre-Leo-and-Eli shape, it doesn’t seem to happening.

What I’ve done or tried to take care of my mom bod after babies

  • lifting weights

  • running around my neighborhood

  • cutting out starches

  • cutting out wine (that one didn’t last long)

  • HIIT workouts from a book

  • adding protein

Y’all, it’s exhausting! I run a business and take care of two little ones who are not in day care. I don’t do a great job of taking care of myself. I thank God every single day for caffeine.

But I want to show you the BEST thing for my confidence and the love of my mom-bod. I have boudoir photos taken regularly… as often as I can afford it.

I booked couple’s session with Boudoir Coterie in California after my first child. CJ and I were getting to a point where we weren’t spending enough time as a couple, aside from parenting.

I had Adeana Marie Boudoir take photos of me in Vegas when my oldest was 2.

Most recently (after my 2nd was about 9 months old) I flew my favorite photographer, Jennifer Williams, to Paris for a dream photoshoot in a GORGEOUS hotel.

Before each of those photoshoots, I wanted to lose ten pounds.

Did I? Nope!

Did it matter? Nope!

So what does this have to do with you? I want you to rock your mom bod. Whether you’re curvier, droopier, poochier or somehow you’ve gotten into the best shape of your life, celebrate that beautiful strong mom bod.

Check out a few gorgeous moms!

Each of these women was super nervous about their shoots. Aren’t they beautiful!?

Black Bodysuit for Boudoir

Still on the simplicity kick here… a black long sleeve body suit. With coloring like snow white… K looks absolutely stunning in this suit. You can find similar ones at, or even Amazon.

Boudoir pro tip: the ones without crotch snaps are better if you can find them.

The dream tutu

When I asked Miss K to come in and test some new ideas for the studio, the wardrobe we picked was your standard ideas. Lots of black. A cheeky t-shirt. Fabulous boots.

But after sifting through her bag, I found a small tulle skirt and thought to pair it with her pretty burgandy bralette. A few shots in, my wheels started turning and I remembered my gorgeous ombre tulle skirt from the mother-daughter shoot.

Presenting arms full of tulle, she giggled and said, “Oh my god! My dream tutu.”

This is what we came up with:

THE Tutu with K in Our Albuquerque Studio

Adeana and I attended the Association of International Boudoir Photographers (always learning to better serve you!) in Boulder, Colorado recently. We came back recharged and ready to play with a willing model. K was perfect the job. She’s a mom (like most of our clients), but she’s also a classically trained dancer. She is also studying acting, so I actually think I’ll have to have her back in for another shoot and let her take more control. But for now, I wanted it to be quite similar to a shoot I’d have with any other client.

She brought a pretty little tulle skirt of her own, but once I saw it, I knew I had to show her my huge pastel pink tulle skirt. She couldn’t see my grin behind the mountain of tulle I was carrying, but I couldn’t wait to see her reaction.

She just about squealed and said,

“Oh my god! My dream tutu!”

Here are a few shots I wanted to share. If you’re interested in where I got the skirt, shoot me an e-mail. I have a little girls’ version, too.

Miss L - 50th Birthday Boudoir - Albuquerque, NM

L, I love that you came in knowing what you want and we rocked this 50th birthday boudoir photoshoot together.  Your love of Prince was THE best... I always play the same boudoir playlist but for you... Prince on Pandora. We even added a little nod to him with the purple ribbon in your image box.

It's kind of funny how we met. You e-mailed me and said, "You photographed my friend and I want to do this, too!" I checked my archives and I had no record of this friend. So I scheduled a meeting with you thinking that maybe she had a nickname or something. But I knew from your e-mail that we absolutely should meet for a studio tour.

We connected and I knew that I could create AMAZING photos for you. You had all these great ideas and I just knew that we were a good match.

You went ahead and booked me and we started the planning. The Prince shirt, borrowing the beautiful slip from my wardrobe, your slouchy sweater that was so sexy off the shoulder, white sheets and a high-fashion look with the high-waisted panties and push up bra.

Your photoshoot was effortless. You worked it like you've been doing this forever. There was never any awkwardness as you easily took my direction. I love it when that happens!

I loved sharing the reveal with your husband. You were a little bit hard on yourself, but he and I both agreed that you looked PHENOMENALLY sexy.

I didn't get to see your face when you opened the folio box for the first time since we did a hand-off delivery at Sandia, but I will always remember the text you sent afterward.  It absolutely made my week.

Thank you, L, for honoring me with this important celebration. I can't wait to have you and your daughter back for a glamour shoot.

Welcome to Amanda, our new studio assistant/miracle worker!

Meet Amanda!Amanda White - Lavish Boudoir - Albuquerque

If you're a recent inquiry, you've probably heard Amanda's voice by  now. Amanda and I met at the beginning of the school year at the bus stop. Talk about opposites attracting for this friendship!

Amanda: No fewer than two colors (at least one vibrant) in her hair at any given time

Leslie: Thought it was super bold to dye her hair a natural shade of red

Amanda: Knows where everything is at all times

Leslie: Loses stuff all...the...time (like my camera during sessions)

Amanda: Cooks brilliantly and even makes the delicious chocolate dipped strawberries for my sessions

Leslie: Burns toast

Amanda: Fearlessly extroverted

Leslie: Classic introvert

I'm turning 35 tomorrow and I'm well aware of my strengths and weaknesses. Since leaving Georgia and Adeana, I've really been trying to compensate for my weaknesses with Lavish. It's been a struggle to grow as I'd like and provide the organizational consistency that my clients deserve.

A smart business woman knows when to fill the gaps... so I took a deep breath and asked Amanda if she'd join my team.  She said yes!  ***I sound like I proposed, ha****

It's been a little more than a month and I cannot even express how invaluable she's been to Lavish and to you, the clients. Now you get the best of everything... my wild creative brain and her strategic planning brain.

So please welcome this GORGEOUS and funny and brilliant and wonderfully type-A woman to the Lavish Team.
