boudoir

Boudoir Goggles:

I see the women in the world through boudoir goggles.

Where she sees a messy ponytail, I see a woman who is too busy kicking ass to spend time pushing her hair out of her face.

Where she sees thighs that rub holes in her jeans, I see curves and feminine beauty.

Where she sees crow’s feet, I see someone who laughs so hard her face squinches up.

Where she sees short, I see petite.

Where she sees awkwardly skinny, I see leggy.

Where she sees a soft tummy, I see a body that created a human.

When a woman talks to me and tells me she could never do a photoshoot because of (enter one of thousands of excuses here), I want to just shake her and prove that

1) She’s exaggerating her insecurities 5-fold so that they take on a life of their own.

2) She is enough, she is beautiful. Her femininity is aching to be recognized.

3) She deserves to be served. She deserves to receive the energy that she lavishes out to everyone else.

I see all women as these amazing humans with superhuman potential and incredible beauty. It’s such a privilege to capture that with my camera and I never take my role for granted. It’s my job to guide you to recognizing that beauty in yourself. Even when you’ve got a messy ponytail, shadows under your eyes, and jeans that won’t quite button that day.

If you’re ready to see yourself through boudoir goggles, please allow myself or another experienced photographer show you who we see.

Black Bodysuit for Boudoir

Still on the simplicity kick here… a black long sleeve body suit. With coloring like snow white… K looks absolutely stunning in this suit. You can find similar ones at Yandy.com, AmericanApparel.com or even Amazon.

Boudoir pro tip: the ones without crotch snaps are better if you can find them.

Lighting for Boudoir - New Mexico Studio

When I started photography back in 2006ish, I knew absolutely nothing about light. I knew how to point a camera at a subject, I knew basic posing, and I knew how to make a woman feel comfortable in front of the camera. My studio was called “Photography by Leslie Anne.” My photographs were as generic as my name.

In 2008ish, I attended a workshop with one of the most brilliant wedding photographers in the world. Jerry Ghionis offered a workshop just one state away and I jumped at the opportunity.

The first thing we did was publicly display our portfolio for critique. I was pretty proud of my work. Jerry had other opinions. He basically told me that all of my light was flat and boring. Well, then…

Turns out, he was right. Luckily, the next 3 days were dedicated to seeing light. To understanding the difference in high key, low key, short light, broad light and flat light. We learned to use buildings as reflectors, to tuck models into strange places to get some artistic framing and how to turn a warehouse wedding into a memorable photo op.

I don’t photograph weddings anymore, but I credit his teachings to knowing and understanding light.

This photo was taken in my studio with the same light and the same angle for the model. Each says something entirely different to me and appeals to different viewers.

Which light do you prefer?

Oh, and he’s the one who gave me the idea for the studio name, LAVISH. Huge improvement in the name. He still offers workshops, so if you’re still learning photography as a professional, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Miss L - Lavish Boudoir - Albuquerque, New Mexico - 2018

Miss L, We absolutely adored photographing you. Your enthusiasm was contagious. I couldn't have had more fun during a session. You've got a kind of sass without having even a hint of snark.

That strappy red slip you brought in is perfect for boudoir. So perfect, I went and ordered one for the studio. It showed off your curves fabulously.  The cowboy boots and button down gave a sweet playful edge while the white sheets are always timeless. Especially with the bedroom-eyes gaze you have.

Thank you so much for choosing Lavish. I'm so glad you're already telling your friends. If they're as much fun as you, we'd LOVE to have them.

Cheers!

Miss D | Body and Soul Transformation

d-Lavish-Boudoir-46_WEB.jpg

Body and Soul Transformation | ®Leslie Cersovski | Lavish Boudoir | Albuquerque, New Mexico Miss D - Your body and soul transformation is just so inspiring.

You came to me to celebrate an incredible accomplishment.  You lost a significant amount of weight (scroll to the bottom to see her before photo) and gained poise, a fabulous new wardrobe and the confidence to step in front of a camera as my model.

Your story touched my heart. How you spent your whole life hiding behind your weight.  How you always wondered what it would be like to feel beautiful. You spent decades caring for others and completely neglecting yourself.

You said the doctor told you that your body was not just heavy, but that you might not be around very long to care for those two beautiful boys you love so much. That was your wakeup call. Who would have guessed that the woman who emerged would be so much more than you already you were. You were already kind, you were already giving, you were already smart... they were just eclipsed by your fear of being seen.

Your doctor helped you on the journey and you absolutely nailed it. You were healthy, you were strong, you were ready to conquer the world and you asked me to help capture that in you.

So I asked if we could film you. Your personality is just captivating and I wanted YOU as a representative of everything boudoir is to Lavish. You said yes!

Your makeover with Edgar Campos was stunning and you warmed to the camera so quickly. Red lips and your velvety dark skin were just a dream to shoot.

Thank you...  thank you for taking care of yourself because you are an asset to this world. Thank you for trusting me and asking to be photographed.  Thank you for agreeing to let me share your beautiful story with the world.

You are such a blessing.

Sincerely,

Boho Chic Boudor Photoshoot | Albuquerque, NM

boho-chic-boudoir-lavish-boudoir-albuquerque.jpg

"If you're going to San Francisco... be sure to wear some flowers in your hair."

How to create a boho chic boudoir photoshoot.

Boho chic is all about a look that is natural and ethereal. It's about showcasing a woman who is comfortable in her own skin. They way you might spend a Saturday morning with your lover.

Styling ideas for creating a boho chic boudoir photoshoot:

  1. Incorporate textures... delicate lace, fuzzy blankets, soft natural fabrics
  2. Keep your hair un-fussy. I love some big hair, but this is time for "I woke up like this" waves and a flower tucked behind your ear.
  3. Emphasize those sleepy eyes with long lustrous lashes, but skip the lower liner
  4. Pillows, lots of pillows, and scarfs and blankets create the cozy boho nook.
  5. Light should be bright and natural
