The difference between a good boudoir session and a great one... how you prepare
I can help! This helpful page will give you a glimpse of how Lavish Boudoir will help you learn how to prepare for your boudoir photoshoot.
Beauty prep
Let’s start with what to absolutely do:
schedule your beauty appointments appropriately (hair, nails, waxing, skincare).
consult with your photographer or makeup artist about the “look” you want for the photoshoot.
hydrate, hydrate, hydrate inside and out for glowing skin.
Absolutely do not:
try a new treatment, color or style right before your session. Do not cut new bangs!
tan. It’s drying and has potential for burning, flaking or orange spots depending on how you fake tan.
eat too much salt or foods you know make you bloat or break out.
What to wear for your boudoir photoshoot
These boudoir outfit ideas look fabulous on all body types:
A bra and panty set that fits well. It doesn’t get lost in your curves, the bra lifts the girls, and the coverage is right for you. If you are worried about a mummy tummy, choose a shaper garment. They’re much cuter these days and I’ll pose you so it doesn’t show.
A lacy bodysuit/teddy. These look great on everyone. Choose one that highlights your favorite features and disguises what you want.
A slouchy sweater and cute panties. A bra is optional depending on if you want support. You can also bring your favorite throw blanket for cozy vibes.
A button down shirt. You can bring one of your own that will show off your curves or borrow your man’s shirt for boudoir. Pro tip: If your man is much larger than you, make sure to show some skin so you don’t get lost in it.
Nothing but sheets. A client favorite is always the white sheets. It just gives Marilyn Monroe vibes, it’s timeless, and you can show as much or as little skin as you want.
Bold color lingerie. Even though black lingerie is safe and everyone loves it, a pop of color is a lot of fun. You can choose electric colors or jewel tones.
Pro tips for your boudoir photoshoot
These tips are totally optional, but I promise they’ll have you looking and feeling your best.
Exercise in a way that is fun for you. This is not about losing weight before a session. You are perfect the way you are. But when you get your heart pumping and your body moving, you connect to it and appreciate it. So walk with a friend, try a yoga class, or simply turn up the music and dance.
Stretch your body. Even if you’re an athlete, posing for boudoir is challenging because it’s a totally different way of moving your body.
Book the appointments you usually feel bad about splurging on. But make sure to give yourself plenty of time for recovery. A chemical peel a week before your session is a disaster waiting to happen.
Visit your dentist for a cleaning or whitening treatment. My photos are filled with smiles and you want your smile sparkling because a genuine grin is super sexy.
Boudoir Bootcamp
A guide for all of my clients.
Each woman who books a session with Lavish Boudoir is given a pdf workbook with every possible tip you need to prepare for a boudoir photoshoot in our Maryland studio. It’s 36 pages based on the experience I’ve accumulated over the last 15 years.
I can tell when a client dives in and follows my advice. She shows up feeling prepared, confident and ready to have an incredible experience. And the photos show that difference. Sometimes it’s the difference between having 50 proofs and 100 proofs! So book a photoshoot with Lavish Boudoir to see and feel the difference.
