Take a Long Hot Bath - without drying your skin

Start off your weekend with this little indulgence.  A hot bath can often leave skin super parched, so pour a little bit of apricot oil in your bath water. Your skin will be as silky smooth as with the expensive brands of bath oil, but a big bottle of this oil can usually be found for less than $10.  If you miss having a nice perfume to the oil, add a bit of scented bubble bath.  So go ahead and relax before you dive into the weekend. This is also a great idea the morning of your boudoir shoot! Cheers!

Lavish Boudoir - Miss J

jennifer.jpg

I get a lot of women commenting that all the girls in my portfolio are so beautiful and that they could never look like that.  So, I enlisted the help of a few ladies to show that these are real women who do things like clean their houses, go to work, and sometimes chase after kids.  Thanks Miss J for volunteering to show both sides of herself!  I think she's absolutely gorgeous.  Thanks to Adeana for the beautiful makeup. before & after

Favorite Things - Girl Meets Pearl

The holidays were amazing.  CJ and I headed to Oregon to spend some quality time with his family.  I knew it would be ridiculously cold (I'm sort of a wimp), but I had no idea that it would be so dry that my skin would absolutely freak out.  If it were just time to catch up with relatives and eat goodies, it would be no big deal.  But those red spots and flaky patches were about to be permanently recorded in professional family portraits and destined to be hung in at least 4 homes for the foreseeable future. Ugghh.  I headed to the mall, desperate.  I bought a thick moisturizer and then stumbled across something wonderful.  Girl Meets Pearl at the Benefit counter.  It's a pearlized primer that completely rescued my haggard skin.  Post-moisturizer and pre-foundation and concealer, and it was genius.  Now that I'm back to the wonderful humidity of the South, I use it instead of foundation on my good skin days.  It's the first I've found that makes you glow but not look sparkly. P.S. It smells nice, too.

I wanted to finally make a public announcement that CJ and I are expecting a baby boy in early June!  So technically little Leo will be attending all shoots until then, but your secret is safe with him.  I will be taking the month of June off from paid shoots to spend time with my little guy and my big guy and my two furry guys.  Yes, it's me and a house full of boys! Meet Leo:

Miss L - Lavish Boudoir

LH-Lavish-Boudoir-2011-02.jpg

L has been one of my favorite clients to date.   We totally got off to a rocky start.  Somehow I completely spaced on our consultation (this is the very first time I've done this).  So I'm working in my yoga gear with my hair pulled up and no makeup.  The doorbell rings and I'm thinking "Ooh! FedEx!"  Uh no.  I don't know who looked more shocked to see the other.  Fortunately L just laughed and I invited her in to show her my work and give her a little advice about her upcoming shoot.  Thankfully, she didn't run screaming from my makeup-free face. Fast-forward to her shoot and she brought the most darling clothing. My absolute favorite was the lacy tee with sequins.  She got the full glam treatment and looked incredible, but I must say that her skin was absolutely flawless to begin with.  Check out the first pic, she was brave enough to shoot with the front door wide open.  So worth it, right?
