Happiness is being a boudoir photographer.

The other day on Facebook, I posted, "I love my job!"  It was after an amazing day with a wonderful client.  She was so nervous to shoot last weekend.  She brought moral support and sort of tip-toed her way into the session.  By the end, she was rocking it.  She got to see her photos for the first time yesterday and loved them.  She confessed that the night before she'd had a nightmare that she looked gruesome in her photos.  Yeah, like I would let that happen! Out of dozens of photographs there were only three that she could live without.  She walked away thrilled to have purchased a gorgeous leather-bound album full of her favorites.  I walked away thrilled to know that maybe on a day when she's not feeling so glamorous, she'll pull that album off the shelf and remember just how gorgeous and sexy she really is.

Every single day, I get to help women feel beautiful.  That is an amazing privilege, despite the hard work.  I feel so blessed to help build women up when the world often seems set on tearing them down.  The magazines send messages like, "You're not thin enough," or "Your skin is the wrong color."  I get to work with a client and prove that she is sexy exactly the way she is.

On a side note... I'm going to London next week!  Yay!  Stay tuned for pictures.

Keeping the light on?

So, we all know that boys like to keep the lights on...

So, we all know that men like to keep the lights on in bed.  Of course they do!  You may be thinking, "Ewww... cellulite."  He's thinking, "Mmmm... boobs."  The closest thing you can get to a real-life airbrushing is colored lightbulbs with a super low wattage.  Swap out your regular bulbs for 15-25 watt amber bulbs.  It's like being bathed in candlelight (minus the fire hazard). What are your tips for keeping things romantic in your boudoir?

Miss C - Boudoir - Sacramento

Courtney054.jpg

Courtney is like the fitness queen.  If you follow her on Facebook, you'll get a daily dose of guilt as she talks about her adventures with P-90x.  No stranger to the gym, she was an absolute dream to photograph.  Her physique somehow balances super fit and super feminine.  All-in-all, she's super hot and really really funny.  I had such a great time working with you Court.  Thanks for trusting me to capture all of your hard work in print.  If you want to see the sample album I made of her, e-mail so you can drop by and check it out. Tips & Tricks

Every Thursday, I will be posting one of the little tricks I have up my sleeve.  They can be about just about anything.  Have a special request?  Let me know. Tip #1:  The Turtle

Okay, so this is something I coach every single one of my clients about.  When you are having your picture taken, you don't want to expose or give the illusion of having a double chin, right?  Gross.  Though CJ (my hubby) claims he loves my waddle, I don't. Period.  When you're facing the camera take your chin and pretend like you're resting it on a shelf directly in front of it.  That means a sort of circular motion that goes up, forward and then down just a bit.  If you feel a bit like a turtle, you're doing it right.  Don't worry about looking like your head is about to fall off of your neck.  When seen in 2d (i.e. on a facebook profile or your boudoir album), you won't look strange at all.

Any questions?

Lingerie Picks – Lavish Boudoir

a little note that says, "Tonight..."

4b1f0667.jpg

Since I featured Miss Jenn's bridal boudoir session yesterday, I thought I'd keep the bridal theme going.  Let me just say that I am a sucker for Agent Provocateur lingerie.  The pain of swiping my credit card is completely erased the moment I open up that pretty pale pink packaging.  This particular outfit is one of my favorites.  Contemporary brides probably have just a bit of a naughty side, right?  The French Leavers lace gives it a sense of luxury while the tiny bow at the waist lends the corset a bit of girliness. Here's an idea for just before you are set to wed. Have hand-delivered to your husband-to-be, a beautiful portrait of you wearing this, and a little note that says, "Tonight..."
